The sounds of deconstruction are all around us.. Camps lethargy, tranquilo, coho, singkerrnicity are in various stages of being recycled and filed away until little folk or next year's big folk..
It's a mostly cloudy day, so it's a better day for packing than if there was a blazing sun. Long faces and energy based upon the realization that another festival is drawing to a close moves everyone along the path of withdrawal that will occur over the next hours, days, weeks and months. YEECH... WHAT KIND OF CRAP IS THIS ??? Can we do it again mommy ?? NOW ??? PLEASE ??? NO ??? WHY NOT ??? WADDA YA MEAN: "BECAUSE" ??? WHAT KIND OF AN ANSWER IS "BECAUSE" ??? damn... Last night's mainstage had it's highs and lows.. Tom Russell was very enjoyable, but the Laura Love Trio ended up being a dou, and the missing energy was a big disappointment.. I had seen Laura Love many years ago at a folk alliance(?), but was disappointed at this incarnation.. Ruthie was Ruthie, with another energy filled performance that rocked the house.. The only drawback to ruthie, nowadays, compared to when she first appeared at kerrville is she's reached the point where some of her stage presence feels "rote" and rehearsed, not fresh and real.. still, great performance.. Security had to get involved with a campfire out of control near the entrance to the lower meadow. a few hose down's, and the surrounding campsites were no longer under threat of evacuation.. Haven't seen or heard from Uncle Bill Emerson this festival.. Bill, hope all's well.. give us a shout.. We decided we're packing up on monday, so, other than some organization and clutter clearing today, we're going to leave off the leaving until tomorrow..
