Kerrville Ramblings - Day 10

Got to the ballad tree a little late, and missed chck brodsky's opening. Hot day, but the players were slightly upscale of a typical ballad tree session... Chris chandler had a new performance, "mundane", which is making it's way home on his new CD. Late tonight, Gene Shay from Philly taped small potatoes & their waltz for his radio show live at camp cuisine. Cuisine was cooking tonight, with great performances from the burns sisters, still on the hill, and a standing o for small potatoes... Jacquie is so tired, she was almost out on her feet... She finished singing and just said "say goodnight gracie" and was off...

Mainstage tonight had excellent performances from David maloney from CA. and good, (but not my style) from Alan munde and joe carr (excellent cello), carolyn hester, and lorin rowan. Suzzy roche was a cancel, and we evening fished up with high energy from Kevin Welch from nashville, beautiul melodies from Dee Carstensen (her new album comes out july 28th), and a rousing final set from trout fishing in america. Their encore was "one of the more stupid songs hey do, but not the stupidest" It was the "proper cup of coffee" song.

the campfires were alive, with high activity at nashville, coho, singkerrnicity, cuisine, and an open mic being taped at threadgill for a national npr show (crs on the name). the latest jackson browne rumor has him playing at 3pm tomorrow on the main stage. we'll see...

The fedexed bread is holding out, and everyone says thanks to the CUSelves.

observations:

The grass which was thick and almost green (it is dry in texas) and calf high at he beginning of the festival has been beaten down by the (relative) mass of humanity, and in high traffic area, turned into plain dirt.. It's interesting to watch that every year... the firs few days, you have to be carreful where you walk, the grass is so high, and stickers still abound. now, no stickers, and very little grass...

the attendance this second weekend is less than memorial day, but seems slightly higher (in the mainstage area) than last year.

I got a nice little note left for me on the bulletin board. For those among you too young to remember, a bulletin board was how locals used to send messages to each other before computers and the invention of email..

Daddy... Daddy... How did we ever survive before television ??? What did we do ??? You must have been so bored growing up...

jeez...

Still no Marie N or Rachael bissex sightings..

For those Dick Gaughan fans (no, he's not here)... His live CD will also be coming home...
